Hublot has added to its high jewellery collection with three watches that boast 300 baguette-cut diamonds a piece.
Despite the ice, the watches are more than just a pretty diamond-encrusted face. The Big Bang Unico High Jewellery line features a flyback chronograph, powered by the brand’s HUB1280 calibre movement. That particular piece features 334 diamonds (a total of 12.5 carats) on a white gold base.
The second watch in the collection features a tonneau case which houses 346 baguette cut siamonds. It is powered by the HUB4700 movement.
Accoridng to CEO Ricardo Guadalupe, these design of the watches was almost as complicated as the movmements within.
“Setting the stones on a watch is a feat of technical and aesthetic excellence, carefully conceived and determined in advance,” he said in a statement.
“The discipline is both a science of absolute precision and an art form, the aim of which is to maximize the brilliance of the stones within the limits of an extremely confined space. Overcoming such tough challenges and coupling tradition with innovation are the driving forces of our ambition.”
As you’d expect considering the sheer number of diamonds, these don’t come cheap. The ‘base model’ Big Bang Unico will cost a cool US$316,000, while the Classic Fusion will sell for US$370,000.
